Fellaini set to miss time with left knee injury

A statement later released on Belgium's Twitter confirmed his fears and revealed the extent of Fellaini's injury.

Romelu Lukaku heads in the winning goal for Belgium in Greece, punching the Red Devils' ticket to the 2018 FIFA World Cup.

The 24-year-old did not travel to Sarajevo and instead stayed behind in Brussels to continue his rehabilitation.

Lukaku missed the 4-3 win over Bosnia on Saturday with an ankle injury picked up before United's 4-0 win over Crystal Palace.

Belgium have already booked a place at next summer's World Cup in Russian Federation.

The former Everton man scored a brace against Crystal Palace before the global break and his physical presence will be missed against the Reds. The Belgian looks set to go above and beyond the achievements of Zlatan Ibrahimovic last season - seamlessly adjusting to life as a Manchester United player. The centre-forward is due to have a test on Monday before Roberto Martínez decides whether to choose him for Tuesday night's final Group H qualifier against Cyprus. "I haven't received a phone call from Jose Mourinho".

Fellaini is also set to miss United's away games against Benfica in the Champions League, Huddersfield in the Premier League and Swansea in the Carabao Cup besides the trip to Anfield as Jose will not be able to rotate his options wisely with Pogba too out.

Fellaini is expected to be out for a couple of weeks.

With Paul Pogba and Michael Carrick both on the sidelines, the ex-Everton ace has added to the list of key men unavailable to face Liverpool this coming Saturday.
