Ballon d'Or: Kane, De Gea, Kante, Coutinho, De Bruyne, Neymar shortlisted


Senegalese worldwide Sadio Mane, Tottenham striker Harry Kane and Atletico Madrid winger Antoine Griezmann have been include in the nominees for the 2017 Ballon d'Or award.

Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea, who has kept more clean sheets (6) this season than any goalkeeper in Europe's top five leagues and Philippe Coutinho have also been nominated, along with the latter's Liverpool teammate Sadio Mane.

The French newspaper has chosen to stagger the nominees throughout Monday.

Kane, 24, has been picked on the shortlist for the first time after scoring 43 goals in 37 games for club and country in 2017.

Ballon d'Or holder Cristiano Ronaldo, the hot favourite to retain his crown in 2017, has been included in the final group of nominations for the award.

Paris Saint-Germain and Brazil forward Neymar was one of the first five names that award organizers France Football revealed from the shortlist, along with Real Madrid duo Luka Modric and Marcelo, Juventus forward Paulo Dybala and Chelsea midfielder N'Golo Kante.

Ronaldo won the award past year - his fourth overall - and is expected to lift the trophy again.
