For instance, she told Jimmy Kimmel that Lady Gaga complimented her on her American Hustle performance at the Vanity Fair party after the Oscars. And I was there, excited, all dressed up, at the bar and schmoosing with showbiz types.
So poor old Isla just said thank you and once the REAL Amy Adams arrived at the party, she did the most Aussie thing ever! "I don't want to tell her the truth, '" she said.
Before concluding their interview, Jimmy Kimmel revealed Fisher had a very special parting gift to share with viewers-a public service announcement clarifying the differences that set her and Adams apart. "So I just gracefully thanked her [and] bowed my head".
Isla is so used to being mistaken for the other actress that she made a decision to embrace it, making a spoof public service announcement to help people tell the two apart.
Naturally, wanting to avoid awkwardness (or worse, correcting Lady Gaga) she played along. "Gaga then wanted to talk about Adams" performance in the film, leaving Fisher caught between a rock and a hard place.
"I [looked] over [Gaga's] shoulder and there's Amy Adams walking into the party", Fisher told Kiimmel.
But unfortunately for Fisher, her little white lie could only go so far. It all worked out in the end, though, as Adams and Fisher's humorous ways came to the rescue. "She's not even nominated for anything, whats she doing here?'"
"Hello. I'm Isla Fisher, and I'd like to clear something up", she begins in the skit.
As someone who assumed up until writing this article that Amy Adams starred in Confessions of a Shopaholic and Isla Fisher starred in Leap Year (both false), this PSA is for me.
