Following Xavi's departure in 2015, Iniesta, who made his debut in 2002, has been the club's captain. Since then, Iniesta has made 639 appearances for the La Liga club, and is second on their all-time list of highest appearances, behind ex-captain, Xavi Hernandez.
He is also the club's most decorated player alongside Lionel Messi, having won 30 trophies.
"It's where I have grown and developed".
However, Barca have now confirmed that a deal has been struck which they hope will see the 33-year-old remain at the club until he retires.
"Andres deserves a statue at Camp Nou, he's part of the club's heritage and Barca have done very well to extend his contract, as has he to stay at the club". This is a deal that will delight all Barca fans and will be a reference for future players.
Iniesta's contract was due to run out at the end of the season, similarly to Messi's, and the Spanish midfielder wants his teammate's contract situation to get sorted out soon.
"This is an indescribable sensation, to come here as a 12-year-old and still be here at 33 and to think back on everything that has happened gives me goosebumps all over my body", he added.
