We previously reported that Maruti Suzuki India is working on the crossover version of Celerio hatchback - Celerio X Cross. The company has also introduced a couple of CNG variants too in the VXi and VXi (O) trim levels. The Celerio X is 3,715 mm in length, 1,635 mm in width and 1,565 mm in height, but the ground clearance comes down to 120 mm compared to the 165 mm of the standard Celerio. The engine remains the same, but a new option of 5-speed manual and AMT (AGS) gearbox has been provided. That said, wheelbase is identical at 2,425 mm. A spokesman for Maruti Suzuki said "they are in the process of collecting more details", but did not elaborate further.
Visually, the vehicle looks a lot more stylish thanks to the new crossover-style body kit and black treatment. The front bumper is all new with black plastic panels and large circular foglamps.
ORVM mounted turn signals, tilt steering, steering mounted audio controls, keyless entry, rear wiper, washer and defogger are available on the Zxi and Zxi (O) variants while black 14-inch alloy wheels, fog lamps and height adjustable driver's seat is only offered on Zxi MT (O) variant. The grille gets a chrome lining on the top giving the Celerio a sportier look. The tailgate also gets garnishing and the rear bumper has been created to give a fresh look.
The vehicle gets driver-side airbag and seat belt reminder as standard features while the passenger airbags and ABS are offered as an optional variant across all trims.
There is no mechanical change in the auto and it continues to get 67PS of power and 90Nm of torque from the same 1-litre petrol engine.
