He left the game and did not return as the Hawks beat the Cleveland Cavaliers, 109-93. While the damage doesn't seem to be that serious, the team determined that Shumpert is still expected to miss approximately seven-to-ten days of action. LeBron James has returned full strength to practice for the Cavs but he is questionable for the Friday night game.

Shumpert has racked up quite an injury history since he entered the league in 2011, but he appeared in a career-high 76 games during the 2016-17 season.

The new National Basketball Association season will not start until the next two weeks, but the Cleveland Cavaliers are already looking far ahead of the competition.

Shumpert's injury could complicate what already figures to be a challenging roster shuffle for Cleveland general manager Koby Altman. The only player that the Cavs can't live without is LeBron James.

The Cleveland Cavaliers have had one of the most interesting National Basketball Association offseasons from any team this decade.

Now, the Cavs are looking to get back on top by acquiring the services of stars Derrick Rose, Dwayne Wade and Isaiah Thomas.

The Cleveland Cavaliers actually considered trading Iman Shumpert in the offseason which put his future in jeopardy. Lue said the three-time champion will not play in tonight's exhibition opener against Atlanta. Wade said he was playing with the second unit when James suffered his injury.
