Using Google Translate and machine learning, the Pixel buds will translate conversations in real time so you're able to talk to with someone who doesn't speak the same language without jumping through a bunch of hoops. Also, nothing leaves the device unless the user decides to download or send the images, which is a nice bit of security. That's the Google Home Mini - a whole world of powerful actionable data in a tiny soft package.
When Google Home Max launches later this year, it'll be accompanied by Smart Sound.
Both devices also have an "always on" option, so can be set to show notifications or useful information even when the phone is off and both come with True Black level for deep blacks, though neither offer HDR. Google Home Max features Google Assistant on board, too, allowing customers to quickly check the schedule, play games, and more. Pixel Buds will pair via Bluetooth to the new Pixel smartphones-and presumably any other devices that accept Bluetooth wireless earbuds. But the camera bump on the new Pixel 2 is larger than before. Famed third-party camera consulting service and rating service DXO gave the Pixel 2 and Pixel XL a score of 98, which is higher than the iPhone 8's 94 and significantly higher than last year's Pixel score of 89. This feature for now is only available in HTC U11. Lastly, the top panel includes front camera and a speaker. To many, Pixel earbuds will look a lot like Apple's AirPods. Dual speakers, four microphones, and a 720p camera are also found on the laptop.
At the event, Google also announced that its Daydream mobile VR platform now has over 250 titles (apps and games) to choose from.
A separate report from 9To5Google claims that Google voice assistant might now come to the Chromebooks. There might be changes made on the inside.
Google is selling the Home Max for nearly $400, about $50 more than the HomePod. The device aims to compete with the Amazon Echo Dot.
Google has brought back its high-end ChromeOS notebook - albeit under a new name. The handset is said to cost $49. Mini will also be available in the U.K., Canada, Germany, France, Australia, and soon Japan. It is the said to be the first laptop with built-in Google Assistant and support for Pixelbook Pen. And Pixel users will continue to be the first to receive Android OS updates. It is priced at $999 and Pixel Pen is $99. This could make the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL a bigger contender among security-conscious tech pros. Over the last six months or more, we have seen countless leaks about the design and specification details.
Google is also adding to its hands-free calling feature for Google Home.
The Pixel 2 XL will be powered by the Snapdragon 835 clocked at 2.35GHz and will be available in 64GB and a more than likely 128GB version. The Pixel 2 XL's 64GB variant will sell for $849 and the 128GB variant will cost $949. It comes in three colors - light gray, dark gray, and a blend between pink and orange called "coral".
