Lonzo Ball Debuts, Lakers Lose Preseason Opener

Los Angeles Lakers guard Lonzo Ball, center, looks to pass the ball during Saturday's game against Minnesota in Anaheim on September 30, 2017.

Much of this has been centered around his play offensively, and he showed a bit of that against the Timberwolves notching double-figures, which nearly entirely came in the first quarter.

"I've got a vision for this year", LaVar said Thursday on the "Flagrant Two" podcast, according to Colin Ward-Henninger of CBS Sports.

That is not a message the Lakers will also need to send to Kuzma.

Number two overall pick from this year's draft, Lonzo Ball, chose to take a few friendly shots at teammate and former Pac-12 rival Kyle Kuzma, who was chosen with the 27th pick this year.

Ball wasn't bad, he finished with 5 points on 2-of-9 shooting with eight assists.

"It is important for me, for the players and for our country to continue to talk and be active and get out in the community and do things that makes this country better and equal for opportunities and for everybody that lives here", Walton said. "But at the end of the day I got a job to do".

Veterans are hammering Donald Trump for showing disrespect to all veterans by physically mocking war hero Sen. The senator's daughter called the alleged mockery, first reported on the news site Axios , "abhorrent".

"That's what you dream about as a kid", Ball said. "(The Lakers) are gonna win them 50 games, and they gonna get in them playoffs, and the story that's gonna be for L.A.is Steve Kerr versus Luke Walton. "We want him taking those (shots)". However, he didn't shoot the ball that well from the field, as he finished two-for-nine.

"We are in this together", Walton said of the coaches' locking arms with the players.

The UCLA product is usually praised for his unselfishness and ability to get others involved but head coach Luke Walton was slightly disappointed that he passed up shots to try and create for others and wants to see him mix it up.

By the time Ball made his first shot, a 3-pointer with 3:47 remaining in the first quarter, Honda Center erupted, releasing the excitement that had been pent up since the Lakers landed the No. 2 overall pick in the lottery way back in May. "Everywhere we go he's getting swarmed like an All-Star already". "I won't be able to do so since I'm focused on the National Basketball Association season ahead, but definitely one of my dad's close people that he works with will handle the record label [Big Baller Music Group]". "I felt like fatigue was a factor when we had breakdowns".

Kyle Kuzma was a trending topic on Twitter Saturday night.

Shabazz Muhammad, a Lakers target in free agency over the summer, led Minnesota with 22 points.
