Fans injured after barrier collapses at Ligue 1 match


Amiens' Ligue 1 clash with Lille was abandoned after a stadium barrier collapsed, seriously injuring three supporters.

At least 20 people have been injured after a safety barrier at a football stadium collapsed during a game this evening.

Television pictures showed dozens of fans falling onto the pitch, and the match was suspended following a security meeting.

Lille tweeted a message to the injured fans from their official Twitter account saying: "We give them all our support".

The incident occurred 15 minutes into the game after Fode Ballo-Toure had put Marcelo Bielsa's side ahead at the same end of the ground where the visiting supporters were situated.

Amiens now sit 16th in Ligue 1, with Lille two places below them in 18th place. "Eighteen are injured, three of them seriously", a source told Reuters.

Emergency services confirmed three serious injuries and 20 casualties in total at Amiens' Stade de la Licorne, according to reports in France.
