The body of a woman found in Charlotte, NC on Friday has been identified as that of a missing 19-year-old college student who had disappeared last week in the Virginia Beach area.
Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police was called to the church on Griers Grove Rd.
Martin Culbreth, of the Norfolk FBI, said the focus of the investigation now shifts toward finding a suspect in the case. "I, along with the entire investigative team, offer our most honest condolences to the Billie family, especially Ashanti's parents Brandy and Tony".
Ashanti Markaila Billie, in this undated family photograph, was last seen Monday September 18, 2017 in Norfolk, Virginia. "As the family awaits further updates, we ask that you continue with us in prayer that it is not Ashanti".
"Our community should know that our work does not end here". We will not rest until the person who robbed Ashanti of her life, her promise and her future is held fully accountable under the law.

At this point, however, there is no official confirmation that the body belongs to the missing 19-year-old.
A woman's body was discovered behind East Stonewall AME Zion Church in west Charlotte. She had recently started working at a Blimpie sub shop at Joint Expeditionary Base Little Creek-Fort Story. Later on September 18, Billie's cellphone was found in a dumpster near the corner of Tallyho Terrace and Azalea Garden Road in Norfolk.
That same day, her cell phone was found in a dumpster on Tallyho Terrace, while her vehicle was found abandoned on Saturday in Ocean View in Virginia.
