So far the makers have only released the character posters of Deepika, who plays Rani Padmini and Shahid Kapoor, in the role of Maharawal Ratan Singh. And when he was narrating it to me, I was like wow. With this win of the team India, the image completely changed among the people and earned a goodwill that lasted forever. "I think more than a sports story, it is a human story".

Ranveer Singh also shared a couple of pictures, which show the kind of fun the actor had at the event. I am honoured that I will be a part of the biggest story. "Goosebumps and goosebumps in the second part of the film, right Kabir sir?" added Ranveer.

In an interview to PTI, filmmaker Kabir Khan spoke about the Kapil Dev biopic starring Ranveer Singh and said, "It's great to have Ranveer come on board to play Kapil Dev, as honestly I could see no one else for the role, ever since I started finalising the script". "My father-in-law has never attended any of my films launch but he is here today for this film. Try, but you'll find it hard to get such characters across India", Dev added. The event started off by honoring the legendary squad of 1983 including Kapil Dev, Kirti Azad, Mohinder Amarnath, Sandeep Patil, SS Madanlal, Balwinder Singh Sandhu, Krishnamachari Srikkanth, Dilip Vengsarkar, Yashpal Sharma and Sunil Valson. '83 is the story of Team India leading up to the historic day when they picked up the World Cup trophy at England's Lords Stadium on 25 June 1983 - "The day when India turned the world upside down". When Kabir Sahab had come to me and said that there will be a film on 83, I was like finally. The film will be shot at real locations and will be going on floors early next year.

The actor has been roped in to play former captain Kapil Dev in the movie, which is to be helmed by Kabir Khan.
