Wilton Speight completed 14 of 23 passes for 169 yards as MI (3-0) finished off its non-conference schedule.

Senior running back Tim McVey rushed for 62 yards on 11 carries. He returned a punt 79 yards for a touchdown early in the third quarter that gave MI a 16-6 lead.

The Falcons quickly matched that score with a big play of their own.

But Air Force quickly responded with a 64-yard TD aerial from Worthman to Ronald Cleveland to close to within 16-13.

Nordin's 29-yard field goal later in the third made it 19-13.

He didn't help his case for more playing time against Air Force, fumbling on the Wolverines' second drive of the game.

He had two birdies, two bogeys and too many pars, but he did hit his approach to five feet on the par-5 14th for an eagle. He looked away briefly before the ball hit the fringe and kicked forward toward the hole before rolling in.

Higdon's touchdown completed the scoring.

The two teams traded field goals in the second stanza, including a 26-yarder by Nordin followed by a 50-yarder by Strebel, once again deadlocking the count at 6-6.

After a Wolverine drive stalled, the sophomore Nordin opened the scoring with a 35-yard field goal at the 10:51 juncture of the first quarter to give MI a 3-0 advantage.

All eyes were on MI quarterback Wilton Speight on Saturday to see if he could bounce back after two inconsistent games to start the season. They lost to Utah in 2008 when the Utes were still in the MWC.
