Jammu and Kashmir: Terrorist killed in gunfight in Baramulla district


The security forces had earlier cordoned off the area and a search operation has been launched.

Baramulla (Jammu and Kashmir), September 4: Two terrorists are believed to be trapped in a cordon and search operation (CASO) at Sopore's Shangergund area in Jammu and Kashmir's Baramulla district. When troops were busy in search operation, the terrorists hiding in the area fired on the security forces. There were brief clashes between demonstrators and security forces in the main Sopore town.

In another incident, four CRPF jawans were injured in a grenade attack on Monday by militants on a patrol party of the security forces in Anantnag district of Jammu and Kashmir.

He said that further details into the encounter is awaited. "But when he sent the picture of the body to the brother of Ashiq, he confirmed that he was someone else", he said. Reports said two AK-47 rifles and one Insas rifle including one pistol have been recovered. In wake of the encounter, the authorities have chose to shut all educational institutes in twin towns of Sopore and Baramula.
