Microsoft's Klaus Diaconu, Partner Group Program manager, Windows & Devices Group, wrote, "Today we are very excited to announce a new edition of Windows 10 Pro created to meet the needs of our advanced users deploying their Workstation PCs in demanding and mission-critical scenarios".
Finally, the other new feature being offered is Microsoft's proprietary file system called Resilient File System (ReFS).
In a post on the Windows Blogs website, Klaus Diaconu, Partner Group Program Manager, Windows & Devices Group, details the features of this new version of Windows 10.
The moniker "Windows for Workstations" was used for the cut of Windows NT 3.5.1 and 4.0 intended for use as desktops for the power-hungry, as opposed to the version of Windows NT meant to power servers.
So what about Windows 10 Pro for Workstations?

Booking photos show McCoy's left eye appears red and swollen shut, and he has a small white bandage over his eyebrow. The two men have been charged with armed robbery and possession of a handgun, and are now being held without bail.
If news of a Workstation-grade version of Windows sounds like something you've heard before, it's because details about Windows 10 Pro for Workstations leaked back in June. The new feature is available in the Microsoft server operating system.
Windows 10 Pro for Workstations will be delivered with Microsoft's Fall Creators Update later this year. It replaces NTFS and adds integrity checking, data scrubbing, protects against data degradation, and boasts built-in handling of hard disk failure and redundancy. ReFS can detect when data's screwed up on a mirrored hard drive and then use another non-corrupt backup to automatically fix the bad one, ensuring your data's always undamaged. MS describes this as letting you "read and write your files with the fastest speed possible, the speed of the computer's main memory". Other highlights include support for persistent memory via NVDIMM-N and faster file sharing through SMB Direct. It will also feature expanded hardware support for advanced, server-grade processors, up to four CPUs, and as much as 6 TB of memory.
- Increased throughput: Leverages the full throughput of high speed networks where the network adapters coordinate the transfer of large amounts of data at line speed.
- Low latency: Provides extremely fast responses to network requests, and, as a result, makes remote file storage feel as if it is directly attached storage. Additionally, RAM can now be installed in three times the quantity - 6TB per machine.
The four pillars where Windows 10 Pro for Workstations is better than regular Windows 10 Pro.
